When life is getting to you, it’s time to take stock of your situation and find out where the break is and what can be done to repair it. Start with a little personal assessment to see where the problem lies.
As a believer, I always start with prayer to find wisdom, understanding, and direction from the Lord. Usually, if I am willing to be transparent before Him, I can soon discover where I got sidetracked. I consider some important questions that help me focus on my spiritual condition.
Have you lost your zeal for the Lord and His ways? Do you despair of regaining that closeness you once shared with Him. Are you weary of well doing? If so, then it’s time to start over! You are not alone, for others have started over too.
The Bible books of Nehemiah and Ezra tell us the story of the rebuilding of the Temple by the descendants of the captured people of Jerusalem. The magnificent Temple in Jerusalem was in bad shape, but God was stirring up the people…
If you’re a Believer and you’ve gotten off track, then it’s time to go back in repentance to our Lord, to be restored to fellowship. He will receive you. He’s waiting on you. Don’t wait. Do it today. Let Him take charge of your life and begin the process of change in you.
As believers who have accepted Jesus as our Savior and Lord, we are forgiven and have received the gift of eternal life. Yet when we are engaged in sinful practices, we are basically powerless to serve our Lord. Sin creates a division between us. Our prayers are hindered and fellowship is broken. Instead of sweet joy and peace, we experience guilt, shame, and fear of discovery. He is anxious to forgive and restore the repentant believer. Return to your first love, Jesus.
Maybe you deceived yourself, professing Christ as your Savior, but your life doesn’t demonstrate the fruit of a changed heart. You need to ask Him to save you from the penalty of your sin.
If you have not received Jesus as your Savior and Lord, then the place to start is by acknowledging your sin and confessing it before God. Step one must always be to humble ourselves and seek the Lord in confession and repentance. We need only to confess our sins to our Lord Jesus Christ, who has already been sacrificed as payment for our sin. Confession is made with the mouth from a sincere heart. So gird up the walls of your heart that have been broken down by sin. God hears our prayers. With His cleansing we are able to move forward under His guidance to a new relationship with Him and are able to accomplish all that He wills.
“Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 3:7a
