“As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” Luke 3:4-6
When the Lord comes…
“He giveth power to the faint and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” Isaiah 40:29
Are you in a valley today? That deep dark place is where hope seems to be gone and trouble lies. When you feel so low and there is no way out, no way around, no way through your trouble, when Jesus comes, your valley will be filled with His presence. He will uphold you. He will walk with you. He will bring you to level ground once again.
“Isaiah 43:2-3 says, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour…”
“For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.” Psalm 18:28
“Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.” Psalm 18:35
That mountain you are climbing is so high isn’t it? It seems unreachable. No matter what you do, you can’t get there. You try and try, but the summit is too high for you. When you think you can’t continue the climb, take heart, for the Lord will bring your mountain down to you so you can reach the summit.
“I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause: which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvelous things without number: who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the field: to set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.” Job 5:8-11
“He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.” Psalm 18:33
Is your way confusing and uncertain? Your path is filled with twists and turns and you can’t see around the next bend. Obstacles abound. Your steps are faltering, uncertain, and doubting, and you aren’t sure what’s ahead. You fear your enemies lay in wait to ambush you. Don’t despair. Don’t give up. You may have stumbled and fallen. You are bruised and beaten down, but the Lord will make your path straight so you can move ahead in your life without uncertainty or fear or doubt. He will bring healing, He promises.
“Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.” Psalm 5:8
“Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; and make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.” Hebrews 12:12-13
Life is so hard. Your way has been filled with hardships. There has been no smooth sailing, but constant struggle to stay the course and to stay on course. The battle has raged around you and nearly defeated you. When you feel that you are almost overtaken, remember the Lord will make the rough ways in you smooth. All your sins that you struggle to forsake will be made smooth by the Lord who loves you and seeks to perfect you. Just as the blacksmith beats the heated metal to shape and form it, the Lord used those struggles you faced helped to make your rough edges smooth and pleasing to Him.
“So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the soldering: and he fastened it with nails, that should not be moved.” Isaiah 41:7
“The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.” Psalm 18:46
Isaiah 41: 10-13
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not: I will help thee.”
