WE MUST PRAY

P7040096a WE MUST PRAYPrayer is needed more so than ever before in this time.  For we see the tenets of the Bible being pushed aside to follow an imperfect and godless way.  There is a rise of hatred we have not seen before in our time.  It is fierce.  Yet our God has given us His Word in which we find our strength and guidance.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.”  2 Corinthians 10:3-6 (KJV)

Many seek to define right and wrong.  They have decided what is right based on what they think in their hearts to be right.  Since the Bible is our guide to what is righteous, we can have discernment.  We do not have to struggle to discover what is acceptable to God, for He tells us through the writings of the Old Testament and New Testament.

“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:”  1 Timothy 1:18-19

Let us hold fast to the truths of His Word, that we may distinguish between good and evil.  The Holy Spirit will guide us.   The Word teaches us how to pray and what to pray for.  Let us pray that we will be able to stand faithful and firm in our love for our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Let us pray we will endure through trials and troubles, not losing faith, but believing God to use us as He will to accomplish His purpose.  May we be accepting of how He will use each of us.

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”  1 Timothy 2:1-6

For we know our foundation in Christ is certain.  His testimony is validated by the many witnesses who saw His ministry and knew Him when He walked this earth.

“And without controversy great is the mystery:  God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”  1 Timothy 3:16

The Bible also teaches us how to distinguish between those who belong to Christ and those who follow another:

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God:  because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:  every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:  and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God:  and this is the spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.  Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:  because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.  We are of God:  he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us.  Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.”  1 John 4:1-6

We give thanks for the wisdom of the Bible that gives us a call to action in times of trouble with a call to prayer.  We have the strength of our Lord and have power to discern, to believe, to forgive, and to overcome.  Let us pray for wisdom and pray that many will turn from their sin.
