Need A “Do-over” ?

“And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing:  but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.” -1 Chronicles 21:8 KJV

Have you ever come to that point in your life where you need a “do-over”? I think most of us have those memories of a time we wish we could relive. We’d make better choices. Maybe the words which came flying out of our mouths that were hurtful to someone we care about could be taken back. Maybe we could just start over, with all our sin erased, as if it had never happened.

It’s not impossible. Here’s what the Bible says:

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:  but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”  Proverbs 28:13

This means when we realize we have sinned, we can confess our fault and ask for forgiveness from our LORD. God is always ready to offer mercy and grace to those who are repentant. In fact, the Bible says in Psalm 103:12:  “As the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

Psalm 103:12 is one of the best verses in the Bible because it reminds us we are forgiven and cleansed from all unrighteousness through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. If we humble ourselves and admit our wrong-doing, we will be forgiven! Forgiveness is an amazing thing to behold. Here’s another verse to remind you that forgiveness is real.

“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12

This is a wonderful Bible verse that everyone needs to learn because this verse will bring you to your knees in confession so you can be cleansed and forgiven. Did you know that our Lord does not keep track of our transgressions? When we confess our sin, He forgets it. How wonderful it is to have our heart washed clean, as if it had never been dirtied by sin.

Today can be the beginning of a new way of living. Purpose in your heart and mind to live God’s way. Forgive others as you have been forgiven. Give thanks that our Lord loves us and cares for us.
