God Has A Bailout Plan…

News broadcasts seem to tell us we’re witnessing the failure of the world’s ways. Many who have placed their trust in the world system are suffering. They are looking for escape! Maybe you want to bail out too…

God’s bailout plan is simple: follow Him.

“Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea” Isaiah 48:17-18

We are called to walk in all His ways. We are called to separate ourselves from the world’s ways, not the world, but the ways of the world. The ways of the world do not benefit us or others. We will never have the peace we seek if we are trying to follow two ways: the world’s way and the Lord’s way. We will find ourselves in constant conflict and turmoil.

Instead He desires us to be conformed to His image so that He will be glorified in us. He created us, so He knows what we need. He tells us in Isaiah that He will teach us to profit. The Hebrew word “profit” means to benefit, to gain, to avail. It is important to understand that He is not talking about wealth here. Following His commands and following His way benefits us.

We can trust Him to provide and care for us when we obey Him.

Our Lord gave himself for us, so we too are to give ourselves. We are the instruments of His mercy and grace. Let us begin to look past ourselves to the needs of others.

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?” 1 John 3:16-17

“How we need to pray, “Lord, increase our faith,” until doubt is gone,
and implicit trust claims the promised blessings, as its very own.”

The Providence of God

“Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.”  Psalm 85:12

The seed was sown long months ago,
And, through the winter’s cold and snow,
We trusted that God’s care would bring
The green and tender blade in spring,
Which cherished by the sun and rain
Of summer, now has yielded grain
In autumn, when the reaper leaves
His cot to cut and bind the sheaves,
And load with them the nodding wain
Which bears them homeward from the plain.

So God’s great mercies thus abound;
His love still brings the seasons round;
His blessings fill our happy fields,
And all our land its increase yields:
So if we serve Him as we should,
Our Lord will give us all things good;
And He who doth the ravens feed
Much more will give us all we need!

The Believer’s Mission…

“Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient; whereunto also they were appointed.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.”

1 Peter 2:1-10
